Wednesday Addams

Wednesday Addams is the daughter of Gomez and Morticia and the older sister of Pugsley. She lives in the Addams mansion in Central Park with her parents, brother, grandmother, Uncle Fester, and their servant, Lurch.

The braided hell raiser we’ve seen in the comics has since grown up and is now a young woman of eighteen. She is a smart young woman with a dark sense of humor and a passionate nature that she inherited from her parents. Home-schooled at the Addams house, Wednesday wishes to experience more of the world and for her parents to see her as the young adult that she is.

One day, while hunting in the park, she happened to meet a young man named Lucas Beineke. The two fell in love almost immediately. Lucas seems to be Wednesday’s opposite in many ways — after all, she is a morbid, macabre, eccentric Addams and he is a wholesome, optimistic, conservative Ohioan, raised by two seemingly “normal” parents. The effect he has on her is confusing and surprising to everyone, and most of all to herself. Things she once thought disgusting for their cuteness have become charming to her. Over the course of the play, Lucas’ rational side counteracts Wednesday’s temperamental and impulsive nature, creating a beautifully complimentary balance.
